XXL stand-up paddleboards offer a new paddling experience for groups of people. They’re ideal for recreational activities, but also as a different way to enjoy the sport. To get on the board, it’s best to do so one at a time and start by sitting or kneeling until there’s enough depth to stand up.
Once on the water, communication is essential. Participants should paddle in unison, keeping their paddles close to their sides when moving in a straight line. To change direction, the paddlers on the opposite side of the turn should open their paddles, moving them away from their sides and making semicircular motions. Designating one person to set the pace and give instructions makes it easier to stay in control during a trip on a giant paddleboard.
The first outings should take place in calm waters, with light winds and no strong waves. As the group gains confidence, they can stand up, pick up the pace, and practice turns, position changes, or small balancing challenges.
